Meet the
Founder & CEO

Ebony A. Hicks, MSW,CAP

The Bethany House was founded in the year of 2014 by clinical Social Worker Ebony A. Hicks. With her personal testimony of trauma and resilience. Ebony used her life experiences to develop an organization to help other families and youth in her surrounding community. Ebony has served in the Miami Dade County community over 10 years in the Labor & Delivery and NICU units at a local hospital, Case Manager with the Ryan White program serving the HIV/AIDS populations, outpatient mental health therapist, Social Worker, and currently in higher education as a professor in the school of Social Work at a local university. Ebony developed a great interest in family systems.

After encountering and overcoming many phases with her family after the murder of her oldest brother Casey Hicks due to youth gun violence. Ebony's story of resilience and commitment to being a change agent in the lives of other's is what makes her a special gem in the community. Her authentic compassion to be the change that she wants to see in the world has touched the lives of so many.

As a dedicated mother, mentor, and professional Ebony plans to continue to spread her message of resilience and hope through The Bethany House journey.
